Connecticut has a significant bat population, it's also the wildlife removal service that we are most called upon to perform. Over the years we have succesfully completed hundreds of bat exclusions on homes ranging in age from 200 years old to 5 years young.
The process of performing a bat exclusion can be both rewarding and dangerous. If done thoroughly and correctly a bat exclusion will last for years, but if done partially bats will become pests that revisit each and every year. As this happens the colony will become larger, more problematic to remove and the droppings will begin to pile up.
Bats are a precious resource that we don't want to harm. A colony of bats near your home can make a significant impact on the population of flying insect pests like mosquittos which are responsible for the spread of diseases like west nile virus . The unfortunate part about the presence of bats in your home is that there is a chance they can have rabies. As you know rabies is fatal in 100% of human acquired cases, this is the reason bats must be excluded from your home. Bats also are not picky about where they leave their droppings (guano), bat guano is responsible for the upper respitory disease histoplasmosis.
Here's how a bat exclusion is done.
We answer so many questions about the exclusion process that as part of our site we wanted to show one in progress and present our 3 goals. |
