Mosquito Facts

Mosquito facts are needed so that your yard or backyard event isn’t ruined.  Mosquito bites are just the tip of the iceberg. They’re actually very complicated insects.

Here are a few mosquito facts that I’ll bet you didn’t know:

    • Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide:   All humans emit carbon dioxide when they breath.  So, naturally mosquitoes are attracted to the areas where this is most predominant meaning our ears, eyes and nose

    • Males mosquitoes are wimps:   Female mosquitoes are the only ones that bite.  The males feed on pretty flowers and suck nectar

    • Mosquitoes are bad:  In some countries the mosquito can be deadly.  They are responsible for encephalitis, dengue fever and malaria

    • Mosquito bites itch:   The itch after a mosquito bite is a reaction to the mosquitoes saliva

    • Salt marsh mosquitoes travel:   Salt marsh mosquitoes can fly miles away from their birth area to find a suitable habitat

    • Mosquitoes are picky eaters:  Not all mosquitoes bit humans, some prefer amphibians

    • Mosquitoes are fast:   Can you flap your arms 400 times every second?  Mosquitoes can

    • Mosquitoes don’t hatch all at once:   Some species of mosquitoes will wait around until wetness occurs, until then the eggs are completely viable

  • Spare tires are a nice home:   Didyou know in the United States mosquitoes breed in spare tire because they trap water

Mosquito

And a joke to end:

Two mosquitoes are standing around and one mosquito say to the other “why do you look sad’?

The second mosquito responds “people say I suck”!!!
