Termites in Ct; Waterbury, Prospect, Cheshire

Termites in CT are a common problem.  They’re so  common that they’re one of the top 3 pests we provide service for.  Termites in CT come from the soil and and get into homes in some fairly typical areas.  There are also some towns in CT where termites are more likely to be found.  In the industry they’re commonly referred to as “termite towns”.  Do you  live in a termite town?

When I first started in the pest control industry in the early nineties I obviously knew nothing about termites.  I started as an inspector for a large national company.  As an inspector it was my job to look for and write orders for termite treatments. It didn’t take long to figure out that many calls for termite issues came from the same towns.

I live in Greater Waterbury and in my experience I’ve found that homes in the following towns and sections have a higher percentage of termite activity than others.  They’re as follows: Waterbury (east, west and south ends), Southbury (near Heritage Village), Beacon Falls, Naugatuck, Prospect, Cheshire,  All of New Haven, Woodbury (near Woodlake), All of Bristol, Southington and parts of Wolcott.

If you reside in one of those towns you definitely need to have a yearly termite inspection.

Next, I’m often asked if termite damage and evidence of termites is obvious and the answer is no because termites in CT don’t create sawdust and many times damage is hidden within walls.  There are however some typical areas that termites like.  They can be found at garage door frames, areas where the siding touches the ground,  basement under the front/back doors and on perimeter foundation walls.

A termite inspection from a local company like Envirocare Pest Control is a great idea.  In many cases we’ll find things that a homeowner simply isn’t going to find.  You can take advantage of our services M-F 9-5 and on Saturdays until noon.  We can be reached at 1-888-879-6481.

We hope to hear from you.
